What a ride Ancient Noise has been! Tony and I started this book as homework back in 2013/14. I was taking a Comics Experience writing course and my homework was to develop 2 and 5 page stories. It was birthed from a caffeinated conversation late one evening at Collectors Corner, a comic shop I had managed. I was stomping around the aisles talking about how much I loved gorillas and how I wanted to write about one. My research revolved around Grodd, Monsieur Mallah, Ishmael, and various documentaries about African Gorilla troops. Tears were shed. Back at the comic shop, aforementioned customer had returned and we began chatting about Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers and Kang. Kang and Grodd as one character---that's what I wanted to write. A malevolent hyper-intelligent time traveling ape. Of course, as the story took form and the ideas flowed back and forth between Tony and I, things changed and became the story you will have in your hand very soon.
This book took a bit of time and I appreciate your patience with us. Tony and I have experienced great personal losses and we took that time to mourn and take care of those responsibilities.
Also, as some of you know, self-publishing can get expensive, especially if you're trying to pay page rates, and that's why we came here. To help off-set the costs of these ordeals and get these books directly to hands. And me being the me I am, I like to have things about 80% done before I go to Kickstarter asking support.
With that, I want to thank my collaborators.
